History of 911 and 10 of the FUNNIEST Dispatch Calls | WTF Wednesday #13

Welcome to another thrilling episode of WTF Wednesday! Join Amber and Gina as we talk about the history of 911 and the murder case that accelerated its creation. Kitty Genovese was a 28-year-old woman in Queens, New York who was on her way home from work early in the morning when she was attacked and killed. A large amount of people witnessed the event, but very few tried to help. The lack of action and an accessible way to call for help ultimately sped up the creation of the centralized emergency number.

911 isn’t always serious and scary, though. We’ll chat about 10 of the funniest 911 calls ever received. From sibling LEGO disputes to head-stuck-in-cat-tree escapades, these bizarre and sometimes absurd emergency calls will leave you in stitches. Don’t forget to send your funny 911 dispatch stories to weirdtruecrime@gmail.com for a chance to have them featured in a future episode!
